Entering the village, visitors pass the village green
and Tribute Garden, a park commemorating veterans who served their country
from the Revolutionary War to the present. Shaded by trees planted in
memory of those who died, it contains a playground dedicated to the
children of the community.
Millbrook's Main Street is lined with tubs
of flowers maintained by volunteers for the enjoyment of all who visit the
attractive shops and well-maintained homes along the avenue.
The mansard-roofed brick bank building, white-pillared
library, and 1895 Memorial School Building all add to the charm of a
village where shoppers stroll down the sidewalks, peering into antique
shop windows and stopping at the diner.
Millbrook continues to reflect the sense of community
characterized by its 19th century roots. Shopkeepers wave to passersby.
Veterans, volunteer firefighters and Scouts all march to applause in local
parades. Neighbor greets neighbor at free summer concerts at the Community
Bandshell. And "In Flanders Fields" and the "Gettysburg
Address" are still recited on Memorial Day.
